STEM Programs
The major goal of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education) unit at Cuyahoga Community College is to increase student learning, success and completion of the Associate of Science or the Associate of Applied Science Degrees. In addition to providing greater access to STEM education, it seeks to strengthen the pipeline from secondary to post-secondary education and career and employment opportunities through associate degrees and certificates. The STEM unit will create and build partnerships among local school districts, career centers, colleges and universities on programmatic efforts and pathways in the sciences, technology, engineering and math disciplines. Mathematics will serve as the corner stone for integrated, innovative and interdisciplinary approaches to learning the sciences as well as increase students readiness for transfer to four-year colleges in the natural sciences, engineering and computer science. The associate dean and faculty will collaborate on identifying grant and other opportunities to increase students’ experiential, research and co-op experiences which strengthen their workforce readiness and educational advancement opportunities as well as STEM focused scholarships and support for increasing the diversity of students in STEM fields.
